Ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz decreased
At present the Strait of Hormuz is not completely closed, but the movement of ships here has become much less than normal. According to Reuters, in the report dated September 15, 2026, only 4 commodity ships were reported to have passed through Hormuz on Monday, whereas the number was 10 the day before.
Before the war started, about 125 ships passed through this route every day. These figures are based on preliminary ship-tracking data from Kpler. Some ships may pass through with AIS turned off, so the actual number may be higher.
