Aspirants who cleared the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission-Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination and secured government jobs staged a protest at Project Bhawan on Monday against the state government’s decision to cancel the exam.
One of the protesters said they had been appointed after a High Court division bench ruling and that the Supreme Court had also upheld the process.
“We were appointed following a High Court division bench ruling. We had the Supreme Court’s seal of approval, yet suddenly, the government. In an instant, we became unemployed,” the protester said, urging Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to reconsider the decision.
The protester said hundreds of candidates had resigned from their previous jobs to join government posts and questioned what would happen to them following the cancellation.
“We will go to court. We reached this stage through the courts before, so we will go to court again,” the protester said.

‘Justice Has Been Defeated’
Another protester said the government’s decision had left them “on the streets”.
“I am left on the streets. I would like to tell my mother and father—please, have patience. We will win again,” he said.
The protester also alleged that the cancellation disregarded earlier court orders and said they would continue fighting for their rights.
“This decision by the government also disrespects the order of the honorable court. In a way, one could say that justice has been defeated today; the honorable court has suffered a defeat today. I will fight for my rights,” he added.
Govt Cancels JSSC-CGL Exam
Amid the ongoing protest by job aspirants over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday announced the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam and all job tests conducted by outsourced agency TDPL since 2014.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Soren. The chief minister said the government had decided to cancel the exams and the results published by the agency amid allegations of irregularities.
Soren also announced an examination reforms committee headed by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal.
He said the CID and a special investigation team had found “several surprising factors” during their probe into alleged exam irregularities, but said the details could not be disclosed yet.
The JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, however, said its agitation would continue until the government agreed to a CBI probe.
The protests, which entered their 24th day on Monday, have included hunger strikes by six candidates. Devendra Mahto, who had been on hunger strike for 16 days, said he would soon end his fast.
