National Testing Agency DG Abhishek Singh said on Sunday that the NEET exam will soon be computer based (CBT). He said that the high-powered task force led by Nandan Nilekani is also working on this.
He further said that JEE, SSC, CUET and NIFT examinations are already being conducted in CBT mode. CBT is the future. In the coming days, all our examinations will be held in this mode.
After the protest over NEET paper leak, the government had formed a high-powered task force against paper leaks under the leadership of Nandan Nilekani.
Said- NTA will conduct exams in other countries
Abhishek Singh said that examinations should be conducted without cheating, mistakes and the need to review one’s own system. After strengthening the domestic examination system, NTA will consider conducting examinations for other global institutions.
He said- NTA will work towards conducting examinations for other countries and global institutions also in future. NTA will try to conduct the examinations without mistakes and hassles with the help of logs, data and analytics.
Task force headed by Nilekani formed in July
The Center had formed the task force in July under the chairmanship of Nandan Nilekani. It was formed amid student protests at Jantar Mantar over allegations of paper leak and demands for changes in the examination system.
Apart from Nilekani, the task force includes former Intelligence Bureau director Tapan Deka, former ISRO chairman S. Somnath, IIT Madras director V. Kamakoti, former education secretary Anita Karwal and logistics expert Amrit Lal Meena.
What is NEET paper leak case, 14 arrested so far
The paper of NEET-UG 2026 exam held on 3 May 2026 was leaked. The government and NTA canceled the NEET-UG 2026 exam and conducted it again. During this period, many students across the country committed suicide.
Cockroach Janata Party demonstrated for a month at Jantar Mantar in Delhi regarding the paper leak. Sonam Wangchuk fasted for 26 days. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had to resign.
At present CBI is investigating the paper leak case. In this, investigation was conducted in many states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi. So far 14 accused have been arrested. CBI may file this charge sheet soon.
