A man in Maharashtra’s Sangli district has been arrested for allegedly killing his 17-year-old daughter after she scored low marks in the NEET exam, following a heated argument.

A 17-year-old girl in Maharashtra’s Sangli district was beaten to death by her father, a school headmaster, after she scored poorly in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The girl, identified as Sadhana Bhosale, was a Class 12 student. The tragic incident took place on Saturday night in Nelkaranji village, located in Atpadi tehsil. The accused, Dhondiram Bhosale, aged 45, was angry and disappointed with his daughter’s NEET results, which led to an argument between them, as reported by PTI.
During the argument, Dhondiram asked Sadhana why she didn’t perform well in the exam. Her reply made him lose his temper. The teen had said, “Papa, did you become a collector? You also had low marks.”
Following her response, the father became enraged. In a fit of anger, he picked up the wooden handle of a stone grinder and attacked his daughter with it. This happened in front of his wife and son.
Sadhana had suffered serious head injuries during the assault. She was taken to Ushakal Hospital in Sangli, but unfortunately, she died before she could receive medical treatment.
Senior Inspector Vinay Bahir of Atpadi police station said, “The teen was rushed to a hospital in Sangli, where she died during treatment. The post-mortem report revealed that she died of multiple injuries.”
The girl’s mother filed a complaint at the police station on June 22. She stated that her husband had assaulted their daughter due to her low exam marks, which led to her death at the hospital.

Based on the complaint, police arrested Dhondiram Bhosale.
“The girl’s mother had filed a complaint at the police station on June 22, stating that her husband had beaten her up due to low marks, resulting in her death at the hospital. The accused father has been arrested and is in police custody till June 24. The case is under investigation,” said police.
