JDA bulldozers have razed 70% of the Noorani Mosque near Nandpuri underpass in Jaipur’s Malviya Nagar as part of a road-widening drive, with 3,000 cops and RAF on ground.

Internet services across Jaipur North and Jaipur East police station areas have been suspended until midnight on June 9.
Jaipur woke up to a heavy security lockdown Monday as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) launched a sweeping anti-encroachment drive in the Nandpuri area of Malviya Nagar, demolishing illegal structures — including portions of the Noorani Mosque — to widen a key road corridor to 80 feet. The operation, backed by over 3,000 police personnel and RAF units, has turned the neighbourhood into a virtual fortress.
The drive targets encroachments falling within the right-of-way of the arterial road connecting Jagatpura to Jawahar Circle. Five religious structures — one mosque, one mazar, one satsang bhavan, and two temples — have been identified for demolition. While the two Hindu structures were voluntarily vacated by their managements ahead of the operation, the Muslim community had formally refused to vacate the mosque.
Internet services across Jaipur North and Jaipur East police station areas have been suspended until midnight on June 9, with Section 163 prohibitory orders in force banning gatherings of five or more persons.
LIVE UPDATES: Here’s What Has Happened So Far
• Internet shutdown extended: Divisional Commissioner V. Saravan Kumar has issued a revised order extending the internet ban by another 24 hours — now in effect from June 8 midnight to June 9 midnight. All 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile data services are suspended across most police station areas in Jaipur North and Jaipur East. WhatsApp, Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and all other social media platforms remain blocked.
• Bulldozers now facing mosque’s main structure: After completing demolition of the rear section of the Noorani Mosque, JDA’s heavy bulldozers and dumper trucks have moved to the front of the structure. Trucks are queued on-site to clear debris immediately as demolition proceeds, to keep the main road unobstructed.
