A court in Patna on Monday reserved its order on the anticipatory bail plea of educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, who has been named in an FIR in connection with a firing and vandalism incident at his coaching institute earlier this month.
The popular teacher and YouTuber moved the court seeking protection from arrest after police booked him under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act following the June 2 incident outside Khan Global Studies Institute.
Speaking to reporters after the hearing, Khan Sir’s lawyer Arvind Kumar Mahuar said the matter had been argued before the court, and the judge had reserved the order.
“Work is in progress. Everything depends on the law. It all depends upon the facts, and till now, the judge has not given any decision,” the lawyer said.
During the hearing, the defence argued that the FIR against Khan Sir was motivated and filed with the intention of tarnishing his reputation.
Mahuar maintained that his client had been implicated despite having no direct role in the incident.
According to him, the case against Khan Sir emerged after his staff had earlier lodged a complaint against the director of another coaching institute.
The controversy stems from an incident on June 2 when shots were allegedly fired outside Khan Global Studies Institute during a disturbance at the premises.
Police later registered an FIR at Kadamkuan Police Station under Section 109 of the BNS and relevant provisions of the Arms Act against three persons, including Khan Sir.
According to police, a video recovered during the investigation showed two individuals allegedly firing into the air following acts of vandalism at the coaching institute.
The two guards seen in the footage were subsequently identified and detained.
Authorities have said the weapons used in the incident were seized and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
Based on the findings of the investigation and the recovery of the firearms, police named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR under provisions related to abetment and the Arms Act.
With arguments concluded, all eyes are now on the Patna court’s decision on Khan Sir’s anticipatory bail plea, which will determine whether the educator receives protection from arrest while the investigation continues.
