The village was once renowned for producing IAS and IPS officers, and now it is recognised for its more than two dozen doctors.

Locals believe Koilakh village enjoys the direct blessings of Goddess Bhagwati. Speaking exclusively to Local 18, resident Ramesh explains that the village is quite expansive, and its people feel blessed by both Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Kali. Each year, children from the village continue to secure top ranks in competitive examinations.

Among the village’s notable figures are IAS officer Sudhir Kumar Jha, IPS officer Mihir Kumar Jha, IG Pankaj Jha, IAS officer Murali Jha, IAS officer Praveen Kumar, Dr. Madan (celebrated across Asia in the medical field), Dr. Bhavanath Mishra, and Dr. Mohan Mishra — a Padma Shri recipient in 2014 who has been a pioneering figure in treating Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala Azar) through the use of Amphotericin B.
