Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto reach Singapore Open semifinals after Toh Ee Wei injury, PV Sindhu falls to An Se Young.

Star Indian mixed doubles duo Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto reached the semifinals of the Singapore Open after their Malaysian opponent Toh Ee Wei sustained an injury to her knee and had to retire from the match.
Coming on the back of a three-game thriller against the Japanese duo of Yuta Watanabe and Maya Taguchi, Dhruv and Tanisha were the underdogs against the third-seeded pair of Toh and Chen Tang Jie.
At the mid-game interval, the Malaysian duo led 11-8, although Dhruv and Tanisha had put up a good show till then.
At 16-all, Toh took a lengthy medical break and her knee had to be heavily strapped, but she decided to continue.
Unfortunately, Toh could only continue for two more points and with an 18-16 lead, the Malaysian pair had to retire from the match, with her reduced to tears.
Toh had to be eventually carried off on a wheelchair, even as Dhruv and Tanisha showed great sportsman spirit in inquiring about her injury.
Dhruv and Tanisha will now face the Japanese pair of Yuichi Shimogami and Sayaka Hobara, who stunned the second-seeded Thai duo of Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran in a three-game thriller on Friday.
Earlier in the day, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu lost in straight games to top seed An Se Young. The former showed flashes of attacking brilliance and unsettled the Korean, but An’s superior control, movement and composure in the crucial moments sealed another comfortable 21-17, 21-14 win in their one-sided rivalry.
The loss to An extended Sindhu’s winless streak against the reigning Olympic champion to nine matches.
The star men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty beat the Malaysian pair of Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai in a three-game thriller. Men’s singles shuttler Lakshya Sen is currently in action against Japan’s Koki Watanabe.
