Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film Ithaa is surrounded by controversies due to its title. This film is based on the legendary Lavani dancer, singer and artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar. After the release of the teaser of the film, NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) expressed displeasure over keeping the title of the film as Itha. He believes that the title should also be similar to the great artist on whom the film is based. Now Vithabai’s family has also expressed objection.
According to TV 9 report, NCP’s protest has received support from Vithabai’s family. Vithabai’s sons Kailash and Rajesh Narayangaonkar and grandson Mohit have objected to the name Ithaa and demanded the filmmakers to change the title. However, no statement has come from the makers on this entire controversy.
Let us tell you that apart from NCP, Maharashtra Cultural Department Chairman Baba Saheb Patil has raised questions on the title saying that Vithabai has made a big contribution in the field of Lavani and Tamasha. In such a situation, if the film is made on him, then why is his name not in the title.

- The film is directed by Laxman Utekar, who has previously made films like Chhaava, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Mimi.
