Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against actor Imran Khan. On Saturday, he had joined the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) protest at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. During this demonstration in support of the ongoing movement in Delhi, the police had detained Imran and released him late at night. On Sunday, Mumbai Police registered a case against him under sections 223 and 189 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). His partner Lekha Washington and cousin Jain were also present with him during the performance. Case registered under 5 sections of BNS Mumbai Police said on Sunday that in the FIR registered against Imran Khan, sections 223 (disobedience to orders), 126 (2) (wrongful restraint), 189 (2) (unlawful assembly), 189 (3) and 189 (5) of the Indian Justice Code have been imposed. In this case the policemen themselves have become the complainant. According to the police, more than 400 people were detained across Mumbai during the protests on Saturday. The actor was detained during the protest. After being detained on Saturday during the protest, Imran Khan shared a picture of himself from inside the police van on social media. He had written, ‘Looks like I am going for a drive’. In a video surfaced from inside the van, when his cousin Zain asked him if he had ever been to jail, Imran said that looking at the current situation, there are chances of it. While talking to the media, Imran said that he was picked up from the road without any reason and made to sit in a van. Claims to return home on foot after release After being released from custody, Lekha Washington shared a video on Instagram claiming that the police did not allow her to take any car or cab after her release. Lekha told that his mobile was also deposited, after which he left for home on foot with Imran and Jain. At the same time, Imran Khan told that before his release, he and other people were taken around in the police van for about two hours. ‘I am not part of any organization, I reached like a common citizen’ During the demonstration at August Kranti Maidan, Imran Khan told the media that he has no personal demands nor is he representing any organization. He clarified that he has not come to talk as a representative, but as a common citizen, he has come to support the people.
