It is extremely hot in almost all the states of the country. Meanwhile, rain has given some relief in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi on Friday. Still, the mercury remained above 40°C in these states. The day temperature was recorded at 42.9°C in Barmer, Rajasthan and 42.8°C in Jaisalmer.

It also rained in Ghaziabad and Muzaffarnagar of UP. In about 16 districts, the maximum temperature remained at or above 40°C, causing heatwave conditions. There was severe heat in 50 cities including Prayagraj and Varanasi. The Meteorological Department has said that the temperature in the state will increase by 2-3°C for the next three days.

Here in Delhi too, yesterday was the hottest day of this year with mercury reaching 41°C. However, light rain in the evening brought the temperature down to 7 to 10°C. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may rise again in the next 2-3 days and a heatwave-like situation may occur.
