The water level of rivers in Satna and Chitrakoot of Madhya Pradesh is continuously increasing. Due to this there is waterlogging in many areas. All schools and colleges in Satna have been closed today. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in 67 districts of Uttar Pradesh. There is a warning of heavy rain in 15 districts including Mathura and Agra. Schools will remain closed today in Ballia, Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Lakhimpur Kheri and Chitrakoot. A low pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal and adjacent Gangetic areas. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar. This system will remain in place till September 5. The Meteorological Department of Uttarakhand has issued an orange alert of heavy rain in Nainital, Bageshwar and Dehradun. There is yellow alert in the remaining districts. There is no hope of respite from rain even for the next three days. Laxmanjhula-Neelkanth road was blocked due to debris in Rishikesh, while Gangotri National Highway is closed in Uttarkashi.
