Place: Darir-al-Balah area of Central Gaza. 9-year-old Khaled Jodeh was beginning to understand that something bad was happening from the wrinkles on his mother’s forehead that were growing day by day. Then on October 22, his entire family was destroyed in a massive explosion.
The Israeli army, which launched airstrikes from northern Gaza, had reached the center of the Gaza Strip within 15 days of the war. Where Khaled lived with his family. Apart from his parents, a brother and sister were also killed in the attack. Only he and his 7 year old younger brother Tamer were left in the entire family.
Tamer’s condition was not good, his back and one leg were badly injured in the attack. Khaled, who was only 2 years older than Tamer, used to encourage him to live, if Tamer cried, he would hug him and calm him down. Khaled says that his parents are watching him from the sky and his crying will hurt them.
After some time, Khaled’s courage also started becoming ineffective amidst the daily explosions in Gaza. Tamer died within a few days. After his brother’s death, Khaled would suddenly wake up at night and start screaming in fear. A few months later, Khaled also died after being injured in an Israeli attack.

Place- Khan Yunis. Date- 17 October 2023. Mohammad Salem, working for Reuters, got information that Israel had launched a major attack in Khana Yunis. Salem quickly reached Khan Younis’ hospital. Amidst the chaos there, his eyes fell on a woman who was crying with the dead body of a child in her lap.
The people of the hospital were trying to convince her to take the dead body off her lap, but she was not ready to agree. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the woman’s name was Inas Abu Mamar, whose house was destroyed in the attack on Khan Younis. All his family members were killed. The dead child in her lap was her 5 year old niece Sally.
This picture is of Palestinian photojournalist Mohammad Alaloul. Wrapped in a white sheet in her lap is none other than her child. Who was killed in the Israeli strike on Al Magaji Refugee Camp on 5 November. Death in Gaza does not discriminate, it can come anytime, anywhere in the form of Israeli bombing. By the time Mohammad Alaloul reached home on 5 November, all four of his children had been killed. The attack happened at night, when everyone was sleeping.

The Queen of Palestine gave birth to twins just a few weeks after October 7. There was celebration at home. Rania named one Vesam and the other Naeem. Both of them were not even 6 months old when they died in Israeli bombing. Rania is crying over them, covered in a white sheet. She asks- What was the fault of my children?
Note- In one year of war, more than 40 thousand people of Gaza have died in Israeli attacks. 1200 Israeli citizens were killed in the October 7 attack. Israel killed 35 people for one of its citizens in 365 days.
Due to the Israeli attacks that started on October 7, Gaza’s hospitals started getting crowded with people half-dead and suffering from wounds. Doctors had to choose whom to save and whom to leave to die.

In Gaza, some people died by being buried under buildings and some due to cardiac arrest. In many hospitals, doctors considered it better to save those people who had more chances of survival rather than cardiac arrest patients.

Due to lack of space in hospitals, doctors had to make tables for the patients themselves. Due to Israeli attacks, people started crowding the hospitals of Gaza not only for treatment but also to seek shelter.

Death is not the most painful thing in Gaza. It is more painful to be stripped naked, tortured and embarrassed. It was on December 8, that journalist Moti Milrod of Israeli media house Haaretz took a photo after a clash between the Israeli army and Hamas boys.
In the picture, Israeli forces are seen carrying half-naked Palestinians into a truck. There is a woman and some small children in the truck. After this, many media reports came in which it was claimed that Israel is detaining and torturing innocent Palestinians without any evidence.
Heba, an eyewitness, narrated her ordeal to Al Jazeera. He said- That was a day which cannot be forgotten. First they tortured my husband. After this his jaw was broken. They hit him hard on the face. They continued beating until my husband’s hands started bleeding.
He said- The soldiers first removed the clothes of all the men, tortured them and then killed them. We were watching all this. We felt that now it was our turn. Heba’s son Adi Salem was one of the few people who could escape alive.
In all religions, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, the person who dies is bid farewell with full respect. When more than 100 people are being killed every day in the war, and families are being destroyed, Palestinians cannot even expect to be buried with dignity.

On March 4, 2024, 9-year-old Yazan Kafarneh died of hunger in Gaza. His mother cried and said that to save Yajan, no miracle was needed but timely provision of nutritious food.
He had a disease since birth. After the war started, due to not getting proper food, his illness kept increasing and finally he died of hunger. On March 22, UNICEF reported in its report that like Yazan, 22 lakh people in Gaza do not have food to eat properly. Since the war started, more than 10 lakh people here are living hungry or on a half-fed stomach.
5-year-old Aya is one of thousands of children in Gaza who have been living with their families in a UN relief camp since the war began. With a toy in her hand, Aya is looking at the Israeli fighter plane passing over the camp carrying bombs and gunpowder.
After the Hamas attack on October 7, the first day of the war, the sound of Israeli fighter jets started echoing in the sky of Gaza. During this time, a child from the UN school is looking at the sky with his sister in his lap.
