At least 5 people have died in firing in Bora Service area of Guwahati, Assam on Monday. There is news of many other people including women being injured in this incident. According to reports, this firing took place inside a hotel.
Initial reports suggest that 6 people, including women, were shot during the incident. Some of the injured are also said to be hotel employees.
Meanwhile, as soon as information about the firing was received, police officers reached the spot and started investigating the matter.
Guwahati Police Commissioner Parthasarathy Mahanta said, ‘A tragic incident of firing took place at Hotel Bilas Inn in Bora Service area of Guwahati today at around 9 pm. Six people were shot, five of whom died. One person is undergoing treatment and the accused has been arrested. The weapon used in the incident has been confiscated. “Inquiries are underway and preliminary investigation reveals that the incident occurred due to a property dispute related to the lease agreement of Hotel Bilas Inn.”
