Jadarian Price Injury Update: Seahawks Plan Practice Return For First-Round Running Back

Seattle could finally get another running back into practice this week. Jadarian Price has missed four games with a chest injury, and Mike Macdonald said Monday that the Seahawks plan to open the first-round pick’s 21-day return window.

A place in the lineup against Chicago is still undecided. The Bears visit on November 2, giving Seattle a Monday night game to prepare for after beating Kansas City 20-3. Price can begin working with his teammates before the Seahawks have to decide whether he is ready for the active roster.

Price Returns To An Interrupted Rookie Season

Price’s absence began with an injury he initially played through. He hurt his chest in the Week 2 win over Arizona, returned against Washington, then aggravated it during practice ahead of the Chargers game.He was limited that Wednesday and missed Thursday and Friday. Seattle subsequently placed him on injured reserve, interrupting a rookie season that had barely started.

The Notre Dame product, selected 32nd overall in April, had carried 28 times for 119 yards through three appearances. Seattle has since relied on Emanuel Wilson and George Holani while waiting for Price and Zach Charbonnet.

Macdonald defended Price when the injury worsened.

“He’s done everything we’ve asked him to do since he got here,” he said on October 2.

That backing came before the four-game layoff. This week brings a chance for Price to show the coaches how he moves and handles practice again, with activation required before he can face Chicago.

Wilson Gives Seattle A Lift Against Kansas City

Wilson made himself difficult to overlook Sunday. He carried 24 times for 100 yards against the Chiefs, finishing his night with a 21-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He added a 15-yard reception as Seattle handed Kansas City its first loss. That performance gives the Seahawks something to build on while they work out who else will be available.

Velus Jones Jr. left the game with a hamstring injury, leaving Wilson and Holani to finish without him. Charbonnet had already been ruled out, despite being activated from the physically unable to perform list last week.

Charbonnet is returning from the torn ACL he suffered during January’s playoffs. Getting back onto the roster did not mean he was ready for game action, and Macdonald had not committed Monday to playing him against Chicago. The Bears come into the matchup at 5-2 after beating New England on Thursday, October 22.For Price, the next opportunity is on the practice field.
