A speeding Mini Cooper car hit a scooter in Nedumbassery in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Three students riding a scooter died in this horrific road accident. Police have taken Suhail Sajeev, who was driving the car, into custody. A case has been registered on charges of culpable homicide.
Those who lost their lives in the accident have been identified as Devika, Gopika and Ijaz. Devika was a resident of Wayanad, while Gopika was a resident of Palakkad. The third deceased, Ijaz, was a resident of Karnataka. According to the police, the three students were also working in Thrikkakara.
The accused confessed to drinking beer
According to the police, during interrogation Suhail Sajeev admitted that he had consumed alcohol at the time of the accident. However, he said that he had only drank beer. Police have taken his blood samples to find out whether he had consumed any intoxicant other than alcohol.
After this accident, it has also come to light that the accused had a dispute with the local people. It is being told that when some people tried to open the car door, Suhail argued with them. It is alleged that during this time he also said that his father would take care of everything.
The car is registered in father’s name
According to the police, the Mini Cooper car involved in the accident is registered in the name of Suhail’s father. Suhail also has a valid driving license. Police are investigating all aspects related to the accident.
A case of culpable homicide has been registered against the accused in the death of three students. Examination of his blood samples will help determine whether he had consumed only beer at the time of the accident or had also used some other intoxicant.
