According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Shalini Thakur. Shalini was dropped off at her work place in a shopping plaza in the Arden Arcade area of ​​Sacramento when the accused arrived there. The accused was identified as 22-year-old Rohit. According to officials, Rohit was an undocumented immigrant who was previously detained in Arizona.

Officials said that Rohit had been stalking Shalini for several months. Shalini tried to run away but Rohit chased her and shot her. There are many witnesses to this incident. After Shalini fell, Rohit shot her again in the head.

The suspect shot himself

As soon as information about the firing was received, the police reached the spot. Shalini was found unconscious outside the Panera Bread restaurant in the 800 block of Howe Avenue. The medical team declared him dead on the spot. During the investigation, witnesses told the police the appearance of suspect Rohit’s car. The vehicle was located and found on eastbound Highway 50.

Lieutenant Amar Gandhi said that when the officers tried to stop the vehicle, Rohit suddenly applied brakes and stopped the vehicle on the highway. The California Highway Patrol then closed all eastbound lanes due to police action.

In footage from KCRA Channel 3, the suspect’s car was surrounded by sheriff’s vehicles. Police broke the driver’s side window and sent a drone inside the car before approaching it. However, the suspect was found unconscious on the driving seat. Prima facie it appeared that he had shot himself. Later the officials also confirmed his death.

Rohit was following Shalini for a year

In this case, Sudesh Kumari, mother of deceased Shalini Thakur, told that Rohit was following Shalini and harassing her for the last one year. According to Shalini’s mother, Rohit wanted to marry her daughter but Shalini refused due to age difference. Sudesh Kumari told that her daughter was very scared of Rohit.

On the day of the murder, Shalini had talked to her mother on the phone at 1:58 pm. Shalini had told her mother that she would call back in 15 minutes, but her call did not come.

According to reports, Shalini knew Rohit through DoorDash pickup from her workplace. Later, when Rohit’s behavior deteriorated, Shalini took restraining orders against him. But Rohit used to wait outside Shalini’s house for hours, puncture the tires of her car and install Apple AirTag under her car to keep an eye on her activities.

According to the restraining order, Rohit put pressure on Shalini to marry her and also tried to control whom she talked to and who she did not. Once he made a copy of Shalini’s flat key and entered the house while she was sleeping. Shalini had taken the restraining order on 19 May.
