A unique party ‘Team Future Mirai’ is in discussion in Japanese politics. Takahiro is also taking forward the new debate of technology-based politics in the world by advocating the use of engineering thinking and technology in government and democracy. He entered politics by contesting the Tokyo gubernatorial election in 2024. He came into limelight because of the way he took feedback from voters through social media and AI. He formed ‘Mirai’ party in 2025. The party first established its presence by winning one seat in the upper house and then this year by winning 11 seats in the lower house. Despite being a small party, Mirai is considered to be one of the first successful pro-AI political parties. While people around the world are fearing that AI will take away human jobs, Anno Takahiro is seeing it as a solution to Japan’s biggest problem, the aging population. Feedback through AI Team Mirai focuses more on social media and digital feedback rather than traditional surveys to gather public opinion. Anno claims that with this the public voice can be heard more deeply than before. Anno Takahiro took inspiration from Taiwan’s former digital minister Audrey Teng. Anno does not talk about changing the system, but about improving the system through technology. Mirai describes itself as a party of facts and data based politics. With this in mind, he opposed reducing the consumption tax in Japan, saying it could affect the future budget.
