Iran War News Live Updates: A two-day public farewell ceremony for Iran’s slain former supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, has concluded, with millions expected to join his funeral procession in Tehran today.
Tens of thousands of mourners passed by Khamenei’s coffin during the ceremony. His three sons were seen praying beside the coffin. However, Mojtaba Khamenei, his successor and the man currently leading Iran, was absent from the ceremony.
Regional tensions continue
As Iran prepared for the funeral, Israeli forces carried out air strikes on Nabatieh in southern Lebanon despite a US-brokered agreement signed with Lebanon last month to end hostilities.
Israeli forces also launched drone strikes on Gaza, killing at least two people. The attacks came as Palestinians protested outside al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, demanding that Israel honour its commitments to allow medical evacuations.
