- Heavy Rain Alert: UP MP Rivers Flooded, Dam Gates Opened & Highway Damaged

Life has been affected due to heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand. There is a red alert for heavy rain in Uttarakhand today. Schools in 5 districts are closed. Due to bad weather, Chardham Yatra has been stopped till 27th September.
UP has been most affected by the depression (low pressure area) over north-eastern Madhya Pradesh and adjacent northern Chhattisgarh.
10 people died in rain-related incidents in UP. Ganga Expressway in Unnao was flooded up to 3 feet. Kanpur-Etawah highway sank 200 meters.
In Jharkhand also, due to bad weather, 6 flights were canceled at Birsa Munda Airport. In Madhya Pradesh too, dam gates were opened due to rise in water level in many rivers.
Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur received its first snowfall of the season, while many parts including Shimla and Dharamshala received light rain.
There is a yellow alert for rain in 9 states including Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. There is orange alert in Himachal and Western UP. Strong winds will blow in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Snowfall occurred on high peaks in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. A white sheet of snow was spread in Pooh’s Kunnu and Chitkul.
There was heavy rain in New Delhi on Saturday evening. Due to this, the temperature on Sunday is likely to be between 30 to 32 degrees.
An official evacuated flood-affected people to a safe place after heavy rains in Sahadevkhunta, Balasore, Odisha.
There has been flood in Supaul district of Bihar due to rise in the water level of Kosi river. People are seen passing through water filled areas.
There was flood in Bhamragarh area of Gadchiroli, due to which residential areas were flooded. 525 people were evacuated to safe place.

- There is a possibility of strong winds in Central Maharashtra, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
29 September
- There is a yellow alert for rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Meghalaya, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
- There is orange alert for rain in Karnataka. Apart from this, there is a possibility of strong winds in Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
