A 23-year-old software engineer died and her 30-year-old partner was seriously injured after the they fell from the seventh floor of a co-living PG in Bengaluru following an argument, police said.
While the victim, Janani, worked as a software engineer, Manichavelu is employed at a logistics company. They are both originally from Puducherry, Tamil Nadu.
Janani had been staying at the PG in Whitefield since January 2026.
The incident took place on Sunday and according to police, the two reportedly had an argument in the morning.
Shortly afterwards, Janani jumped from the seventh floor and is suspected to have pulled Manichavelu along with her.
He, however, survived the fall after landing on tree branches before hitting the ground.
He sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Police are questioning witnesses and others connected to the couple to establish what happened before the fall and whether the incident was an attempted suicide following the argument.
