Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were involved in a collision towards the end of the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday.

McLaren Racing had a mixed outing at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday with one of their drivers crashing out after colliding with his teammate towards the end of the race. Lando Norris ended up hitting the back of Oscar Piastri’s car during the 67th lap of the 70-lap race after misjudging the space available as he went on the attack mode only for his front wing get demolished.
The move ended Norris’ race with his mangled car being lifted off the track resulting in the deployment of a safety car. Piastri though continued and finished fourth as Merecedes driver George Russell emerged victorious ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli.

Piastri was quick to acknowledge his error and apologised to his teammate.
“There’s no one to blame but myself, so I apologise to the whole team and to Oscar as well for attempting something a bit too silly. Glad I didn’t ruin his race and yeah apologies to the team,” Norris said.
The Briton added that it was “more than silly… but that’s racing and just silly on my part. So I’ll go to bed tonight, apologise to everyone and I will crack on.”
Piastri has accepted the apology.
“It’s not ideal for anyone. I’ve not actually seen the incident, so I don’t know exactly what happened, but if Lando has taken full responsibility then that’s how it goes I guess. It was just a bit of a tricky race in general and not an ideal finish,” he said.
The fourth spot though helped Piastri extend his championship lead to 22 points over teammate Norris.
“For me, this weekend wasn’t good enough and it’s still far too early to think that that is an comfortable advantage or anything like that. There’s a long way to go in the season and we’ve got to try and improve on the whole,” Piastri said.
Meanwhile, Russell is the fourth different winner this season after Norris, Piastri and defending champions Verstappen.
