A high-stakes political showdown unfolds in the Lok Sabha as the Women’s Reservation Bill faces a major numbers challenge. With 543 total seats and a required 2/3 majority of 360, the NDA-holding just 293 seats-appears well short of the mark.

As Rahul Gandhi predicts defeat for the government, the Modi-led NDA pushes ahead, aiming to politically corner the opposition. Meanwhile, Amit Shah is set to address the House, defending the bill and clarifying concerns around delimitation and representation.

The opposition bloc INDIA, with 234 MPs, has raised strong objections-not to women’s reservation itself-but to the delimitation process linked to it. Southern states, led by leaders like M. K. Stalin, have called it a threat to their political representation, turning the issue into a major electoral flashpoint.
