US Iran War Latest News Updates Today Live: Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen only under “Iranian arrangements” after Tehran and Washington exchanged strikes across the Middle East.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf accused the United States of failing to learn from past actions. “The United States still has not learned that bullying and breaking its promises no longer come without consequences,” he wrote, adding, “Let me be clear: If you strike, you will be struck.”
This comes after US military said on Wednesday that it had launched a new round of strikes on Iran to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remained open to maritime traffic. Meanwhile, Kuwait’s military announced on Thursday that its air defence systems had intercepted “hostile missile and drone attacks.”
The latest escalation has raised fears of a renewed conflict in West Asia. It followed US strikes on several Iranian military installations and port facilities a day after Iran targeted multiple merchant vessels off the coast of Oman.
