Refusing to apologise or back down from her explosive racist remarks directed at French footballer Kylian Mbappe, Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla has launched a fresh verbal attack on the World Cup winner, calling him a “son of a b****” for allegedly refusing to shake hands with Orlando Gill.

Amarilla, a member of Paraguay’s main opposition Liberal Party, made headlines after describing Mbappe as a “colonised Cameroonian” following France’s 1-0 victory over Paraguay to reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Amarilla had called Mbappe a “colonised Cameroonian who has really pretended to be French, embittered, nouveau riche, arrogant and ugly.”

Following her remarks, Mbappe responded in a social media post, calling Amarilla a “despicable woman” and “not worthy of her position.”

“When Orlando Gill, a boy who was surely setting foot in a World Cup for the first time, in Europe for the first time, was playing before the world and extends his hand with all the humility of a Paraguayan, and this son of a bitch refuses to shake his hand and yells in his face, that is not French, a Frenchman would never have done that,” Amarilla was quoted as saying by Marca.

“France is Rousseau, Descartes, Montesquieu, Victor Hugo, Simone de Beauvoir, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. I refuse to reduce all that great France and that enormous cultural, artistic, and democratic legacy to Mbappe,” she added.Continuing her tirade, Amarilla urged Mbappe to read her letter “if he knows how to read” and instead demanded that the Real Madrid forward apologise to her.

“What would I say to Mbappe now, after those replies he gave her, that latest response? That he should read my letter, I wrote it in French and in Spanish. Let him read my letter, if he knows how to read, let him read my letter. And I would tell him to watch out for Paraguayans,” Amarilla said.

“Don’t mess with Paraguayans, Mbappe. We already had Ronaldinho jailed here. Ronaldinho already went to jail here, for being a little corrupt. And don’t underestimate me, Mbappé. I can sue you, hire a lawyer, and they will tell you that I can indeed beat you. Gender violence. Political violence against women. That is serious. That really is serious. Let him apologise to me because I still have legal grounds for that,” she added.

Meanwhile, Paraguayan President Santiago Pena said in a statement that he is opposed to “all kinds of discrimination.”

“We are totally against all kinds of discrimination. I uphold the role of the Paraguayan people, of Paraguay, as a zealous guardian of the defense of human rights and free expression, and always against all kinds of discrimination,” Pena said.
