Laura Loomer, an American journalist and close supporter of Donald Trump, said the former US president conveyed a message of goodwill toward India while she spoke at the India Today Conclave 2026. Loomer quoted Trump as saying, “I love India… I love Modi,” referring to Narendra Modi. During the discussion, she sharply criticised Pakistan, describing it as a major exporter of Islamic terrorism, and reiterated controversial views about Muslims holding political office in the United States.
Loomer acknowledged backlash over some of her past remarks about India, saying certain comments were regrettable, though she stood by her criticism of H-1B visa policies. She also emphasised closer cooperation among the US, India and Israel.
