Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Friday launched Digital Connectivity Rating i.e. DCR platform and mobile app. With this, buildings will now get digital connectivity rating.
Through this rating, people will be able to check the level of mobile network and digital facilities before buying or renting any property. With this step of TRAI, people can now get relief from problems like weak network and call drops inside home or office.
5 important things about digital connectivity rating
- Transparent and uniform rules for all: This new platform of TRAI provides a simple, clean and uniform rule for checking the status of internet and mobile networks in buildings. This will provide consumers with accurate and reliable information.
- Check rating at home and verification through QR code: Public search page is available on this platform. Here one can check the connectivity rating of any property or location by name. Apart from this, one can also check its authenticity through the given QR code and digital certificate.
- Indoor testing will be done through mobile app: A special DCRA mobile app has been created for on-site monitoring of the network. Through this app, authorized agencies will be able to go inside the buildings and accurately test the network strength and internet speed.
- Rating will be given on the basis of these 4 features: Under the DCR system, buildings will be rated on the basis of fiber optic readiness, mobile network availability, in-building solutions and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
- Pressure on builders for better infrastructure: This initiative will not only help buyers but also motivate property developers and builders to create strong digital infrastructure from the very beginning.
Single interface for property managers
According to the TRAI statement, this platform brings property managers, registered digital connectivity rating agencies and customers on a single interface.
Property managers for built and under construction buildings across government, commercial, public and private categories can register their properties and track the status of rating applications.

What is In-Building Solution (IBS)?
In places like large or multi-storey buildings, basements and elevators, mobile tower signals often do not reach inside.
To deal with this, a network of small antennas and cables is laid inside the building, which is called in-building solution (IBS). DCR rating will decide whether the builder has installed such technology in the building or not.
