Mojtaba Khamenei Named Iran’s New Supreme Leader
As Iran begins the process of selecting a new Supreme Leader, Israel’s defence minister warned that whoever assumes the position would become “a target for elimination.” The statement comes amid rising tensions and an escalating regional conflict.
Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the son of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is all set to succeed his father, who was killed in joint strikes by Israel and the United States.
Israel defence minister’s statement
Israel’s Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, made the remarks in a post on X. He said every leader appointed by what he described as the Iranian regime to continue plans to destroy Israel, threaten the United States, the wider region and suppress the Iranian people would be an “unequivocal target for elimination.”
Katz added that it would not matter who the leader is or where he hides.
The Israeli defence minister said he and the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to prepare and act by all means to carry out the mission as part of the objectives of Operation “Lion’s Roar”.
Any leader appointed by the Iranian terrorist regime to continue leading the plan to destroy Israel, to threaten the US and the free world and the countries of the region, and to oppress the Iranian people – will be an unequivocal target for elimination.
