There is a decline in the stock market today i.e. on 13 January. Sensex is trading at 83,700 level, falling by more than 200 points. There is also a decline of about 50 points in Nifty. It is trading at the level of 25,700.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 25 are declining and 5 are rising. Selling is being seen in auto and IT shares. There is a rise of 1.12% in the media sector of Nifty.
Global market boom
- In Asian markets, Korea’s Kospi is trading up 0.80% at 4,661 and Japan’s Nikkei index is trading up 3.08% at 53,540.
- Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index traded up 0.94% at 26,858 and China’s Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.035% at 4,163.
- On January 12, America’s Dow Jones closed at 49,590, up 0.17%. At the same time, Nasdaq Composite rose 0.26%. The S&P 500 was up 0.16%.
Last day of Bharat Coking Coal IPO
Today is the last day to apply for the IPO of ‘Bharat Coking Coal’ (BCCL) in the mainline segment. The company has fixed its price band at ₹21 to ₹23 per share. Investors can bid for a minimum lot of 600 shares, entailing an investment of ₹13,800 at the upper end.

Foreign investors sold shares worth ₹3,638 crore
- On January 12, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹3,638 crore.
- During this period, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹ 5,839 crore.
- FIIs sold shares worth a total of ₹34,350 crore in December 2025. During this period, DIIs controlling the market bought shares worth ₹ 79,620 crore.
The market was bullish yesterday
The stock market was on the rise on January 12. Sensex closed 302 points higher at 83,878. Nifty also gained 107 points and closed at 25,790.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 25 were on the rise. Today energy, metal and banking shares have risen. Whereas realty, auto, media and pharma shares declined.
