PM Modi’s Vadodara event filled all available seats on BookMyShow within an hour, with over 42,000 people placed on the waitlist.

More than 42,000 people are on the waiting list for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public programme in Vadodara on Tuesday after all available seats were booked within an hour of opening on BookMyShow. For the first time, people were invited to register for a prime minister’s public programme in Vadodara through BookMyShow, with registration offered free of cost.
The event, titled “NaMo for Viksit Bharat”, will be held at the Maharaja Sayajirao University Pavilion on Tuesday. It is expected to bring together citizens, students, professionals, educators, entrepreneurs, industry representatives and members of civil society around the government’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
Seats filled within an hour
The registration response was rapid. According to news agency ANI, all available seats were booked within an hour after registrations opened. More than 42,000 additional applicants were placed on the waiting list. Registration was later closed.
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) used the private ticketing platform to manage registrations for the public programme. The system will also be fully digital at the venue, with registered attendees receiving an electronic M-ticket through their BookMyShow accounts.
How will entry work?
The M-ticket will contain a live QR code, which will be used to authenticate attendees at the event.
The BookMyShow registration is therefore being used not only to manage the list of people attending the programme but also as part of the digital entry process. The public event is one part of PM Modi’s schedule on Tuesday, which will also include a visit to Maharashtra.
In Vadodara, around noon, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate projects, dedicate projects to the nation and lay foundation stones for development works with a combined value of more than Rs 35,000 crore.
326-km freight corridor to be dedicated
A major part of the Gujarat programme will be the dedication of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, covering 326 km.
With these sections becoming operational, the entire freight-corridor network will be operational.
The three sections have been built at a cost of more than Rs 20,700 crore. They will provide northern India with direct rail connectivity to Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT).
The connectivity is aimed at enabling faster EXIM cargo movement, reducing logistics costs and easing pressure on existing railway routes.
Modi will also flag off freight services from New Sanand, New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT. A new passenger train connecting Vadodara with Tanda Road will also be flagged off.
More rail, road projects on agenda
The Prime Minister will dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road rail line, which is intended to connect remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur to the national railway network.
Foundation stones will also be laid for three railway projects covering 329 km at a cost of more than Rs 9,700 crore.
Three highway projects worth around Rs 1,780 crore are also on the agenda.
Gujarat government projects worth about Rs 2,600 crore will also feature in the programme. These include the second phase of a ring road around Vadodara, a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam and a new municipal corporation office.
Housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and a water-supply project for 11 villages will also be inaugurated.
PM Modi to travel to Mumbai
Later on Tuesday, PM Modi will travel to Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026.
The event’s theme focuses on agentic AI, tokenisation and quantum technologies and their role in building trusted, connected and inclusive financial systems.
