Amid intensifying rebellion within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), rebel party MPs are likely to merge with another political outfit and subsequently extend support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre.
According to sources, such a move would help overcome the technical and legal hurdles associated with forming a separate parliamentary group. The merged entity is expected to be named the Nationalist Citizen Party, with its primary political focus centred on West Bengal, Assam and Tripura. While no official announcement has been made, sources indicated that the proposal is being actively considered as the dissident camp explores its future political course.
