Fugitive diamond businessman Nirav Modi, accused of cheating from Punjab National Bank, has said that if he is sent to India, the investigating agencies will torture during interrogation. Regarding this, he has demanded a re -hearing on the extradition case in the Westminster Court of London, which may be on 23 November.
However, an official associated with the case said, ‘We have filed a charge sheet in this case. There is no need to question him right now. Our investigation is almost complete. He only has to face the trial. If the UK court is asked, then we can again assure that there will be no inquiry on bringing India. We have given such confidence before.
Nirav accused of grabbing ₹ 6,498 crore from PNB
Nirav is accused of grabbing more than Rs 6,498 crore from Punjab National Bank in a fake way. Nirav has also misused hundreds of letter of undertaking. All investigative agencies are unanimous that there is no need to interrogate him. Nirav was arrested in March 2019. He is currently lodged in UK jail and the proceedings to bring him to India are still pending.

India said- new allegations will not be made
India has told the UK that Nirav will be placed in barrack number 12 of Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai, where there is no danger of violence, congestion or misconduct and medical facilities are also available. The agencies have assured the UK that Nirav will not be accused.
Nirav is lodged in London jail for 6 years
54 -year -old Nirav Modi was arrested on 19 March 2019 on an extradition warrant. The then UK Home Secretary Preeti Patel ordered her extradition in April 2021. He has been in a London jail for nearly six years.
Three criminal actions are going on against Nirav
The CBI is investigating in the case of fraud from Punjab National Bank. The ED is looking at the money laundering case from that fraud earnings and is running a third case of tampering with evidence and witnesses in the CBI case. Nirav has tried all his legal paths till the Supreme Court and has also applied for bail several times. But all were rejected due to the risk of escape.
