US officials on Wednesday released the text of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran aimed at ending the war, under which Tehran is expected to dilute its stockpile of enriched uranium.
According to a senior administration official, both sides agreed to discuss a mechanism for handling Iran’s nuclear materials, with “the minimum methodology to be down-blending on site under the supervision of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).” The official read out the wording of the agreement.
Titled the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the document was released after criticism over the lack of transparency regarding its contents.
