The parliamentary committee probing the controversies related to NEET paper leak and CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system has asked many sharp questions to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and CBSE. Besides, both the institutions have been summoned and written answers have been sought.

Congress The committee headed by MP Digvijay Singh has asked NTA what is the definition of ‘paper leak’ in its view, while asked CBSE whether the background check of the Coempt company was done before awarding the contract for OSM.

Question on Koempt director’s connection with Globarena company

The committee questioned whether the board was aware that the company’s directors were previously associated with ‘Globarena Technologies’. In fact, in 2019, Globarena’s software was found guilty of irregularities in the Telangana 12th board exam results.

The company’s name was later changed to Koempt. It is alleged that CBSE ignored this disputed record and gave the contract to the company.

The committee questioned why the condition of disqualifying companies with poor records was removed in the third tender of OSM. Also, why permission was given to use normal scanner instead of modern robotic scanner in scanning the 12th answer sheet.

Asked NTA- Was any paper leaked in any exam since 2018?

The committee has asked NTA whether any paper has ever been leaked in the examinations conducted by it since 2018. In fact, recently NTA officials had claimed that no paper was leaked from their system, but only a ‘guess paper’ was circulated.

The committee has sought complete details on the internal structure and manpower of NTA. The agency was asked to provide details of the total number of personnel working during the last three years and all new appointments made in the department from 2022 till now.
