A massive fire engulfed at least three cottages near a beachside luxury resort in Ashvem, North Goa, on Thursday.

According to fire brigade officials, the blaze started suddenly at around 8:30 PM. After receiving the information, the emergency teams rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

“Fire broke out at three cottages near a beachside property in Mandrem. Emergency teams are rushing to the spot to bring the situation under control,” Pernem Fire Station in charge Namdev Pawar told news agency ANI.

As per the fire brigade, no casualties have been reported so far.

The resort, located along the popular North Goa beach, is known to be a high-end property. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.

The incident has once again raised concerns over fire safety measures at tourist establishments, especially in the wake of past tragedies like the Birch Resort fire that claimed at least 25 lives in December last year.
