Mumbai Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on Wednesday ahead of the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to take place on Thursday at Azad Maidan in Mumbai.
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will be sworn in as the chief minister, while caretaker CM Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar will take the oath as his deputies.

““Swearing-in Ceremony” has been organized inside Azad Maidan. A large number of people will be present for the said oath ceremony. To avoid traffic congestion during the event, the mentioned traffic changes are dt. 12 AM on 5/12/2024 till the event ends,” Mumbai Traffic Police shared on X along with the official order.

As parking facilities will not be available near Azad Maidan, the traffic police have advised attendees to use public transport, particularly local trains, to reach the venue. Several roads will be closed or diverted to manage the expected crowd and ease traffic flow in the area.
The Mumbai Police has also urged citizens to plan their travels carefully and be mindful of the traffic changes, especially as many people will be travelling to Azad Maidan and the CSTM area for the ceremony
According to the official traffic order, the following alternate routes will be in place:
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk (Metro Junction): Traffic will be diverted via L. T. Road – Chakala Junction – Right Turn – D. N. Road – CSTM Junction. Reverse directions for return travel.
Mahatma Gandhi Road (CST to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk): Traffic will be diverted via L. T. Road – Chakala Junction – Right Turn – D. N. Road – CSTM. Another option is Maharshi Karve Road (MK Road).
Hazari Mal Somani Road: From Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (OCS Junction) to CSTM Junction, traffic will be restricted. An alternative route will be via Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (OCS Junction) – Hutatma Chowk – Kala Ghoda – K Dabhade Marg – Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg.
Princess Street Bridge (Meghdutt Bridge) (Southbound): Traffic will be diverted via NS Road towards Shyamaldas Gandhi Junction.
Rambhau Salgaonkar Road (One-Way Route): From Indu Clinic Junction (Syed Jamadar Chowk to Volga Chowk), a dual lane will be permitted for vehicles between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
