On November 8, Anshika reached school 10 minutes late. The teachers took her and some other children out of the class and punished them with sit-ups. Some student was given a punishment of 10, some 20 sit-ups, but due to fear Anshika did 100 sit-ups.
Health deteriorated, death on Children’s Day
Anshika’s health started deteriorating from the next day of her punishment. He was admitted to Aastha Hospital in Vasai West. When his condition worsened, he was referred to Mumbai, but he died on Children’s Day.
MNS protests, school locked
post event Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) became aggressive. MNS workers reached the school, demanded an answer and locked the school. MNS has clearly said that the lock will not be opened until a case is registered against the teacher who punished her.
The school was running without recognition
It is being told that this school was running without government recognition (unauthorized). The school management has said that teacher Mamta Tiwari will be fired from the job. The director also claimed that the student was malnourished, but the family has rejected this claim outright.
Victim’s family alleges
Anshika’s mother said that her daughter was never sick or malnourished. Describing the school’s allegations as false, he said, get justice for my daughter.
Police investigation continues
At present the police have not registered a case against anyone, but have started investigation. Local people are also demanding strict action against the school.
