The JEE Main 2025 Session 1 exam, initially scheduled to commence on January 21, has been postponed in West Bengal due to Saraswati Puja and Netaji Jayanti. This decision follows the intervention of Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education of India.
January 23 marks the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. This year, it coincides with Saraswati Puja. The day is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati — the divine embodiment of wisdom, knowledge, learning, arts, and music—holds significant importance in Indian traditions.
The JEE Main 2026 exam will be conducted across India in two sessions. The first session will take place on January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29. Paper 1 will be held on January 21, 22, 23, and 24 in two shifts: the first shift from 9 am to 12 noon, and the second shift from 3 pm to 6 pm. Paper 2 will be conducted in a single shift from 9 am to 12.30 pm on the last day of the examination.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that JEE (Main) 2026 will be conducted in multiple modes. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Paper 2A (B.Arch.) will consist of Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in CBT mode, while the Drawing Test (Part-III) will be conducted offline in pen and paper mode on an A4-size drawing sheet. Paper 2B (B.Planning) will include Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II), and Planning-Based Questions (Part-III), all in CBT mode.
Students often inquire about minimum marks, but the official cut-off is released as percentiles. For instance, a difficult paper might result in lower marks but a higher percentile, whereas an easy paper could raise the cut-off marks. Therefore, focusing on accuracy and consistency is more beneficial than aiming for a fixed target.
The NTA is expected to release the JEE Main 2026 admit card soon. Once available, candidates scheduled for the Session 1 examination can download their hall tickets from the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
