‘Inaccurate’: MEA Sources Deny Grand Mufti’s ‘Nimisha Priya Death Sentence Cancelled’ Claim

The government sources have denied the claims made by “Grand Mufti of India” Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musliyar, that Nimisha Priya’s death sentence has been overturned in Yemen.

The government has refuted claims made by ‘Grand Mufti of India’ Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musliyar regarding Nimisha Priya’s death sentence as “inaccurate”, sources said on Tuesday.

The Grand Mufti claimed in a statement on Monday that the death sentence of Indian national Nimish Priya has been completely overturned in Yemen. It had, however, added that it has yet to receive an official written communication from the Yemeni authorities.

“Information being shared by certain individuals on the Nimisha Priya case is inaccurate,” MEA sources said today.
