After child abuse incident in Vishakhapatnam, in which a child died, another case has emerged of a school teacher assaulting a class 9 student in Bengaluru.
A class 9 student was beaten by her Maths teacher.
A Class 9 student of Oakwood International School near LR Bande in Bengaluru was allegedly assaulted by her mathematics teacher, according to a complaint filed by the student’s parents. The teacher, identified as Shabista, allegedly beat the girl with a wooden stick during the incident, hitting her on the hand, back and thigh, the complaint alleged.
The student suffered swelling and bruising on her hand and back following the alleged assault, her parents said in their complaint.
The parents have lodged a complaint against the school and the mathematics teacher at the DJ Halli police station. Based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR and begun an investigation into the allegations.
The complaint alleges that the mathematics teacher assaulted the student with the wooden stick, causing visible injuries. The parents have sought action against those responsible for the alleged incident.
Parents’ Allegations
The student’s parents have also alleged that the school failed to take action after they raised concerns about the incident.
According to their complaint, the class teacher was informed about the alleged assault but did not take any action. The parents further alleged that they brought the matter to the attention of school principal Munawar Pasha and manager Massiullah.
However, the parents claimed that their complaints to the school authorities did not result in any action against the teacher. The student’s mother has also filed a separate complaint with the Child Rights Commission, seeking intervention in the matter.
Police Action
Police at DJ Halli station are currently investigating the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The allegations against the teacher and school authorities are yet to be established.
The police investigation will examine the parents’ complaint, the alleged assault and the claims that school officials were informed but failed to respond. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
