GATE 2026 Application Correction Window: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will close the correction window for GATE 2026 applications today, November 3, 2025. Candidates who need to make changes in their forms can do so by visiting the official website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

Applicants can log in using their enrolment ID and password to access and edit their submitted forms. A correction fee of Rs 500 will be charged for most changes, while candidates switching from female to any other gender or from SC or ST to any other category will need to pay Rs 1,500.

The GATE 2026 registration process ended on October 13, 2025. The exam will be held on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026, and the results will be declared on March 19, 2026.

What Can Be Edited

Candidates can correct details such as:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Exam city
  • Subject paper
  • Gender
  • Category

However, applicants cannot change details like parents’ or guardian’s names, correspondence address, college name and location, roll number or qualifying degree details.

Step 2: Click on the GATE 2026 application link.

Step 3: Log in using your credentials.

Step 4: Make the required corrections and pay the applicable fee.

Step 5: Review and submit the updated form.

GATE Exam Pattern

The GATE exam will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple centres in India. Each GATE paper carries 100 marks and has a total duration of three hours. The test will include both Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer-Type (NAT) questions.

Paper Structure

Every paper will have two sections — General Aptitude and the subject-specific section.

General Aptitude (GA): Common for all papers, carrying 15 marks.

Subject Section: Covers the core discipline chosen by the candidate and carries 85 marks.

Question Types

MCQs: Each question has four options, and only one is correct. One mark is deducted for every wrong answer in the 1-mark section, and two-thirds mark is deducted in the 2-mark section.

MSQs (Multiple Select Questions): One or more than one option may be correct. No negative marking is applied.

NAT (Numerical Answer Type): Candidates must type the answer using the virtual keyboard. There is no negative marking.

Total Marks and Duration

Total Marks: 100

Total Questions: Around 65

Exam Duration: 3 hours

The GATE 2026 score will remain valid for three years from the date of result announcement, which is scheduled for March 19, 2026.
