The collision occurred in the early hours when a tipper truck, reportedly coming from the wrong side, rammed into the RTC bus.

At least 19 people, including 10 women, eight men, and a three-month-old infant, were killed when a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus collided with a truck in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy on Monday. The bus was carrying 72 passengers.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat confirmed the updated toll, adding that several others sustained serious injuries in the crash. Preliminary reports suggest the accident occurred when a tipper truck, reportedly coming from the wrong side, rammed into the RTC bus.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has also expressed grief over the road accident that occurred in Chevella Mandal of Ranga Reddy District. According to a post by CMo on X, Reddy immediately reached the accident site and directed the officials to undertake necessary relief measures. He said that complete details related to the accident should be provided from time to time.

Chief Minister Reddy directed that special arrangements be made at Gandhi and Osmania hospitals to ensure adequate treatment for those injured in the accident.

Former Telangana minister and BRS working president K T Rama Rao expressed deep shock and grief over the tragedy. “Former Telangana Minister and BRS Working President KTR expressed deep shock and grief over the severe road accident that occurred at Khanapur in Chevella mandal of Ranga Reddy district. He condoled the loss of 17 lives and injuries to many in the collision between an RTC bus belonging to Tandur depot and a tipper. KTR extended his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He requested the state government to provide immediate assistance to the affected families, including the provision of quality medical treatment to the injured,” an official release said.

Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also expressed condolences and directed officials to ensure immediate relief. “He spoke to TGSRTC MD Nagi Reddy and the Rangareddy District Collector over the phone, directing them to take necessary measures to provide quality medical treatment to the injured,” the statement added.

Officials said TGSRTC personnel and emergency teams have reached the site, and rescue operations are underway. The minister has instructed transport department officials to remain at the accident spot until the relief work is completed.

Telangana IT and Industries Minister and in-charge of the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, also expressed shock and anguish over the fatal accident near Mirzaguda in Chevella mandal, where the RTC bus collided with a tipper lorry.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the minister immediately alerted the District Collector, police officials, and senior officers from the concerned departments. He sought a detailed report on the cause of the accident and the condition of the injured passengers. Sridhar Babu directed officials to carry out relief and rescue operations without delay and to personally supervise efforts at the accident site.

The minister also instructed senior officials from the Medical and Health Department to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care at Chevella Government Hospital. He held a teleconference with key authorities to monitor the situation and review ongoing rescue and treatment measures.

Sridhar Babu further asked officials on the ground to reassure the victims and their families that the government stands firmly with them. He also directed that complete information about every injured passenger be promptly shared with their family members.
