FC Bengaluru United reappoint Nallappan Mohanraj as head coach for 2026-27 season. This is his third stint, following qualification for the Indian Football League.

FC Bengaluru United have reappointed former India international Nallappan Mohanraj as their head coach for the 2026-27 season.
This will be Mohanraj’s third stint with FCBU. His second spell began ahead of the 2025-26 season and ended with the club securing qualification for the Indian Football League, a major milestone in their history.
Mohanraj’s first assignment this season will be the BDFA Super Division League, before he leads FCBU in their maiden Indian Football League campaign.
The 2026-27 season will be an important one for FCBU as they look to establish themselves among India’s leading football clubs. The club said Mohanraj’s familiarity with the squad and his focus on player development were key factors behind his reappointment.
“We are delighted to have Mohanraj continue with FC Bengaluru United. His leadership played an important role in helping us achieve our ambition of qualifying for the Indian Football League last season,” said Gaurav Manchanda, Founder of Nimida Sports.
Mohanraj holds an AFC ‘A’ Diploma and has previously coached India’s U-19, U-20 and U-23 teams. He also guided Tamil Nadu to the final round of the Santosh Trophy after an eight-year gap.
As a player, Mohanraj represented India at senior level and played for clubs including Mohun Bagan, ATK and Chennaiyin FC. He was part of the Chennaiyin FC team that won the inaugural Indian Super League title in 2014.
“I’m very pleased to continue with FC Bengaluru United and to be part of this next chapter. Qualifying for the Indian Football League was a special achievement, but the work does not stop there,” Mohanraj said.
“I’m looking forward to building on what we have achieved and continuing to develop the team and the players.”
