Encounter Breaks Out Between Terrorists And Security Forces In Jammu And Kashmir’s Kishtwar

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Dachchan area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Sunday afternoon.

Officials said security forces established contact with the hiding terrorists in the area.

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed on its official handle that contact had been established with the terrorists in the Hadal Gal area of the Kishtwar sector. The operation, codenamed Op Cherji, is currently underway.

The brief exchange of fire broke out on Sunday after police and Army personnel launched a cordon and search operation in the Khankoo forest between Dachhan and Nagseni in Kishtwar, officials said.

Acting on inputs about terrorist movement in the area, security forces began the operation, prompting the hiding terrorists to open fire on the search teams.

The forces retaliated, leading to a short gunfight. There were no reports of casualties till last reports came in. Officials said reinforcements had been rushed to the area.
