CNG prices were hiked again from today, with rates increased by Re 1 per kg across Delhi-NCR, taking the Delhi price to Rs 80.09 per kg.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices were increased again from Sunday, with rates going up by Re 1 per kg across Delhi-NCR, marking the second hike in just two days amid continued pressure on fuel prices.
Following the latest revision, CNG in Delhi will now cost Rs 80.09 per kg, while consumers in Noida and Ghaziabad will pay Rs 88.70 per kg.
The latest increase comes after a Rs 2 per kg hike announced on May 15.
The fresh revision further raises transportation and fuel costs for lakhs of private vehicle owners, cab operators and commercial transport users dependent on CNG in the National Capital Region.
According to details, the latest increase of Re 1 per kg has come into effect immediately.
Earlier, on May 15, CNG prices had already been increased by Rs 2 per kg.
The May 15 hike had taken CNG prices in Delhi to Rs 79.09 per kg, while Mumbai rates were revised to Rs 84 per kg.
As soon as the fresh rates in Delhi-NCR were announced, a consumer at a CNG station at Delhi’s Lok Kalyan Marg said, “The prices have increased, but the fares are not increasing. There is so much inflation. How will we earn and save? Maintenance of our vehicle also costs a lot. We demand that the government increase auto fares as well.”

GLOBAL CRUDE SURGE DRIVING FUEL PRICE PRESSURE
The rise in fuel prices comes amid a sharp increase in global crude oil prices following the Iran conflict and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments.
Global crude prices have reportedly surged more than 50 per cent since late February after tensions escalated in the region.
Despite the rise, retail fuel prices in India had remained largely frozen for months as the government sought to shield consumers from the impact of higher energy costs.
However, with mounting pressure on oil marketing companies, fuel prices have now started seeing calibrated increases.
PETROL, DIESEL ALSO HIKED RECENTLY
The latest CNG revision follows a broader increase in transport fuel prices announced on Friday, when petrol and diesel prices were raised by Rs 3 per litre for the first time in more than four years.
Following that hike, petrol prices in Delhi rose to Rs 97.77 per litre, while diesel climbed to Rs 90.67 per litre.
Industry experts cited in a PTI report said the increase still does not fully offset the losses being incurred by oil marketing companies due to elevated crude prices.
INFLATION CONCERNS REMAIN
Economists have also warned that higher fuel prices could have a wider impact on inflation through increased transportation and logistics costs.
PTI reported that India’s retail inflation rose to 3.48 per cent in April 2026, while wholesale inflation touched a 42-month high of 8.3 per cent, driven largely by rising fuel and energy prices.
Fuel price hikes typically impact freight movement and input costs across sectors, eventually affecting prices of essential goods and services.
