The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited eligible private candidates to submit examination forms for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2026-27. The Board has released separate notices for private candidates appearing in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for the 2026-27 academic session. Both notices were issued on October 7, 2026. Candidates have to complete the application process online through the CBSE website – cbse.gov.in.

Candidates should check the category-wise eligibility conditions and instructions in the official notification before applying. The form has to be submitted online, and candidates are required to provide their personal, examination and subject-related details carefully.

For Class 12, online submission of examination forms will begin on October 8, 2026. The last date for submitting the form and paying the examination fee without a late fee is October 23, 2026.

The registration facility is available for specific categories of candidates. These include students declared Essential Repeat in the 2026 board examination, candidates placed in the compartment category in the 2026 main or supplementary examinations, and candidates who were declared Fail or Essential Repeat in examinations held in earlier years.

Students who have passed and want to improve their performance in one or more subjects can also apply, subject to the eligibility conditions specified by CBSE. The eligibility rules vary according to the candidate’s category and class.

Candidates who miss the regular deadline can submit their forms from October 24 to October 30 by paying a late fee of Rs 2,000. No forms will be accepted after October 30.

The Class 12 notice covers eligible categories including candidates under Essential Repeat, Compartment, Fail/Essential Repeat and Improvement categories, subject to CBSE’s eligibility rules.

Candidates appearing for practical subjects in India have to pay Rs 160 per practical subject, while the fee for an additional subject is Rs 320, as applicable.

The private-candidate examinations will be conducted along with the CBSE board examinations for the 2026-27 session. The board has advised candidates to carefully read the eligibility conditions and instructions before submitting their forms.
