A man was arrested in Karnataka’s Bengaluru for allegedly harassing a woman in broad daylight near her Paying Guest (PG) accommodation in Ullal, said the police on Wednesday, December 24.
According to the police, the accused had befriended the woman on Instagram and had been pressuring her to enter into a relationship with him. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered in the matter, and a further legal action is underway.
As per the details outlined in the FIR, the victim stated that she had been residing at Shri Sai Baba Ladies PG in Ullal for the past six months.
Previously working as a telecaller at Dhatri Developers in Nagarabhavi, she had posted promotional content related to the company on her Instagram profile on September 30, 2024.
Through Instagram, she developed contact with Naveen Kumar, a resident of Bilya Maranahalli, Yelahanka. What began as an online friendship later turned into frequent meetings in Nagarabhavi.
As per the complaint, the accused gradually started pressuring the woman to enter into a relationship with him. Despite the woman’s rejection, he continued to harass her, including coming near her PG premises and following her everywhere.
On December 22, 2025, at around 3.20 pm, when the complainant stepped out of the PG, the accused allegedly assaulted her by hitting her on the head, back and neck. Moreover, he reportedly attempted to tear her clothes, the complaint stated.
Following the incident, the woman immediately alerted the police. However, by the time police arrived at the spot, the accused had fled.
