What Happened In Saket ?

Six people died, and eight others were injured after a five-storey building collapsed near Saket Metro Station in South Delhi on Friday evening. Authorities said more than 10 people were pulled out from the debris and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The building, which housed a coaching institute, cafés and office spaces, was also undergoing construction work on its upper floors at the time of the incident.

Visuals from the site showed the structure reduced to debris, with parts of it crashing onto an adjoining tin-shed canteen used by students preparing for medical entrance exams.

Rescue teams carried out search operations using heavy machinery, hydraulic cutters, victim-locating cameras and sniffer dogs to trace those still trapped.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also visited the site to take stock of the rescue efforts. Meanwhile, Delhi Police arrested the owner of the multi-storey building.
