Amazon will make a new investment of 13 billion dollars i.e. about Rs 1.23 lakh crore in India. This amount will be used to expand Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure in the country. With this, about 38 lakh people will get jobs in the country. The company announced this after CEO Andy Jassy met PM Narendra Modi during his visit to India. The company will invest a total of ₹ 8.31 lakh crore by 2030. The special thing is that the company has said that it will invest about ₹ 4.53 lakh crore in India within 6 months. Earlier in December 2025, Amazon had talked about investing $35 billion i.e. about ₹3.30 lakh crore in India. This investment will be made between 2026 and 2030. At the same time, between 2010 and 2030, Amazon’s total investment in India will exceed $ 88 billion i.e. about Rs 8.31 lakh crore. With this new investment, Amazon has become one of the largest global investors in the field of AI and cloud infrastructure in India. Apart from this, the company is also the largest foreign investor in India and the largest company promoting e-commerce exports. Since then we have been serving customers, sellers, developers, startups and large enterprises through our various businesses. In India, we have seen strong growth in e-commerce, AI and cloud business. He further added, “As we expand Amazon in India, our business priorities are aligned with India’s priorities. This includes creating access to AI for all, digitizing small businesses, creating jobs and enabling exports.” Targeting 38 lakh jobs and $80 billion e-commerce exports, Amazon has pledged to support more than 38 lakh jobs in India by 2030. Along with this, a target has been set to enable total e-commerce exports of 80 billion dollars i.e. about Rs 7.55 lakh crore. The company aims to bring the benefits of AI to 1.5 crore small businesses and connect 40 lakh students of government schools with AI and modern technology. A large network of AI and cloud will open in Mumbai and Hyderabad regions. Out of Amazon’s total investment of $48 billion, about $21 billion i.e. about Rs 1.75 lakh crore has been earmarked specifically for AI and cloud infrastructure. The funds will be used to upgrade the cloud and AI networks in two AWS regions located in Mumbai and Hyderabad. The company said that both these AWS Regions allow Indian customers to store data securely within the country. They also get access to the world’s most advanced AI and cloud technologies, including high-performance ‘Trenium’ chips and AWS’s leading inference engine ‘Amazon Bedrock’.
