AI changed internship, job rate reached 63%: Routine work has been automated, now interns have to attend client meetings, business trips and big projects.

AI and new technologies have completely changed the role of interns in companies. With routine work being automated, they are now being entrusted with responsibilities like big projects, client meetings and business trips. Companies are now looking at internships as a trial for a permanent job and 63% of interns are getting jobs immediately if they like their performance. For example, a 20-year-old intern was sent to London alone on the basis of her ability. Actually, a student who comes to learn work for 2-6 months during studies is called ‘intern’, who gets only stipend. The one who joins a permanent job after completing his studies is a ‘fresher’. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, due to AI and strict rules, companies may be hiring fewer interns, but those who are getting the opportunity are getting serious responsibilities like full-time employees. This is giving students an opportunity to be involved in real business decisions and companies are also getting dynamic talent. Anyway, in fields like finance and consulting, it has been an old trend for interns to handle the main work. Now in other sectors too, internships are functioning like auditions for new employees. The rate of interns becoming employees has increased from 50.6% to 63.1%, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers. The best students are getting offers even before their last year of college. For example, in the midst of planning the July 4 holiday, 20-year-old intern Talia Kusmirek was ordered to take an impromptu business trip from San Francisco to London. Working alone, he created social media content for the company Nooks. On returning after completing the journey within 48 hours, the office colleagues were quite surprised by the huge responsibility given to them at such a young age. Daniel Lee, CEO of the same Nuks company, says that AI exists to handle routine work. In such a situation, college youth will be kept only if they can handle important work. They are not running any charity. Since the company launched in 2020, most of their interns have become full-time employees and are a source of new talent. Clients are liking the ideas of interns, this is giving them big opportunities in the company. According to Brooke J, CEO of marketing company All Terrain, all the clients want to connect with the youth. The company asked three interns, Lily, Luke and Hannah, to come up with an idea for a new campaign. His idea was so good that a presentation was made directly to the clients, due to which the clients were quite impressed and liked his idea. This proves that companies are now using the ideas of interns to attract young customers.
